Emerging Exporter Award - 2001 Commendation
19 October 2001
Raywood was presented with a commendation in the "Emerging
Exporter" section of the 2001 Governor of Victoria Export Awards
at a gala presentation night held in Melbourne.
The Governor of Victoria, Mr. John Landy
AC, MBE presented CEO Graeme Taylor with the award last Friday night
at Government House Melbourne.
Raywood received the award, leading many entries in the "Emerging
Exporters" section.
The award reads...
Raywood Communications is a homegrown success story.
The taxi industry throughout Australia uses Raywood global positioning,
dispatch and in-vehicle surveillance systems.
This local success soon found application in international taxi
fleets - with sales to New Zealand, Dubai, England, Scotland, Ireland,
Italy and now the USA giving a high market penetration on a global
scale.
The Raywood SnapShot Camera developed in 1997 is a security surveillance
system developed for use in vehicle and fixed position applications,
comprising an infra red light source and camera combined with digital
storage techniques to capture monochrome photographs for security
purposes.
Taxi industries around the world are embracing this technology
as a proven driver-safety system, and installations now include
most Australian states, over ten states in the USA, three provinces
in Canada, and also France and the UK.
The 10,000th SnapShot camera was recently sold as part of an 800-unit
order from the Greater Houston Transportation Company.
Many jurisdictions report over 65 per cent reduction in driver
assaults after the installation of cameras, indicating that this
Australian designed and developed technology is proving a significant
contributor to driver safety.
